The International Council on Artificial Intelligence establishes professional standards and certifies AI practitioners worldwide.

Our Mission

The International Council on Artificial Intelligence is an independent global body dedicated to advancing professional standards in the development, deployment, and governance of Artificial Intelligence systems.

Established in 2026 by a founding body of senior AI practitioners, researchers, and governance professionals, the Council promotes responsible AI through structured certification, published frameworks, and international collaboration.

Core Divisions

The Council operates through four principal divisions, each responsible for a distinct area of the organisation's mandate.

Standards & Frameworks Division

Develops and publishes professional competency standards, operational guidelines, and governance models for AI systems across industries and jurisdictions.

Professional Certification Board

Oversees the evaluation, certification, and ongoing accreditation of AI professionals against the Council's published standards.

Global Registry of AI Professionals

Maintains a verified, publicly searchable registry of certified AI practitioners and accredited organisations worldwide.

Ethics & Responsible AI Committee

Provides independent guidance on ethical considerations in AI development and advises the Council on emerging issues in responsible AI deployment.

Professional Certification

The Council offers tiered professional credentials recognising demonstrated expertise, ethical practice, and adherence to published standards. Certification requires documented experience, peer review, and alignment with the Council's Professional Competency Framework.

CAIP

Certified AI Professional

For practising AI professionals with documented experience in AI development, deployment, or governance. The foundational credential of the Council.

SAIF

Senior AI Fellow

For senior practitioners with significant contributions to AI standards, research, or responsible deployment. Requires CAIP standing and peer endorsement.

CAAO

Council-Accredited AI Organisation

For organisations that demonstrate alignment with Council standards across their AI operations, governance structures, and professional development practices.

The Council's inaugural certification cycle will open to qualified applicants following ratification of the Professional Competency Framework. Expressions of interest are now being accepted.
